Centre for the Advancement of Development and Human Rights

We work mainly but not exclusively with migrant communities and help them overcome the numerous challenges and barriers to leading a fulfilling life in the UK. Our work has helped many migrant communities from non-English speaking countries with very little or no formal education who find pursuing their dreams in the UK too difficult. Most of the communities we support confirmed to us that they are unwilling and unable to access mainstream services due to language and other barriers. We therefore provide tailored support to them using people and organisations within the communities we support to deliver our services. we found this very effective as many people who would not have asked for help are now coming out in greater numbers. Our current project is to train 350 uneducated and unemployed women to become Ofsted registered childminders and support them to either find work or set their childminding service business. The cost of training one person is £1,500 and we have just begun training 25 people. Once qualified, each one of these women will be able to earn up £4.500 per month.
